In the game you have the choice of playing as Luceus(male) or Aurora(female). Both characters are the Children of Light, so are special. At some point during the game, the other character is captured by the enemies.
<spoiler>Later on in the game you go to the Goddess' Shrine for your quest, and the bad guy will show up possessing the body of Luceus/Aurora(whoever was captured), since if he is in the body of a Child of Light, he will also have access to the Goddess' Shrine.</spoiler>
