Gender:
<spoiler>A minor side character is a Biomancer who wants to become more powerful. He researches in some ancient Biomancer ruins and finds references to female Biomancers having different powers to male ones. He decides that training a woman to be a Biomancer would take too long(and is also forbidden by the order), so he decides that a faster method would be to turn himself into a woman.</spoiler>
