Categories:

==Description==
Slaine Mac Roth discovers that some of the captives in a prison he purchased have been attacked by some...thing...that has drained their lifeforce. He is prevented from searching one particular cell by Nudd, an ogre-jailer.
After forcing his way in, he is surprised to find his former flame and fellow thief, Blathnaid. After listening to her story of how she came to be imprisoned, he tells
her she is free to go. However, Nudd tries to stop her from leaving as he has become infatuated with her.
[/spoiler]
Slaine defends himself and subdues the jailer. After he confronts Blathnaid with Nudd's unexpected loyalty, she admits that she manipulated the ogre into allowing her to roam the prison freely for sustinence. She then transforms into a serpentine, demonic beast called a
Soul Eater. Slaine realizes the real Blathnaid was killed
by the creature and has been masquerading as her in prison (it
apparently drains its victims' memories in addition to assuming their form).
The beast shifts back into Blathnaid and pleads for Slaine not to kill it but fails to convince him.
