Investigating reports of a strange lizard-man type creature seen during an attack on a man, and the discovery of three dead victims -- Mulder & others cross paths with the strange creature who calls himself Guy Mann.
<spoiler>It is later revealed that the man-sized lizard creature was bitten by a human, after which it transformed between its natural form and human form at random times, much like a werewolf... just more random.</spoiler>
<spoiler>The creature, who calls himself Guy Mann when in human form, also describes to Mulder that he became aware of himself and had other human-like thoughts after transforming into a human. Almost as if he became self-aware and sentient after the bite.</spoiler>
