>In my observations, opinion isn't always readily discernible
from posts that to be informative and factual.
That's where intelligence comes in.
>There's a huge difference between challenging an idea or a
statement, and attacking a group or individual.
I'm fine with attacking "groups and individuals" because of the
ideas and actions they possess. We do it all the time even when we
pretend we we're so high-brow we don't.
>It is a public club...
Well then they should expect to hear public conversations just like
in a public park. If it's a private space then there can be private
ownership; that doesn't mean the owners of the club are morally
right for limiting themselves, they merely have the legal right.
The patrons of the club have the right to argue back or retreat to
their homes for the ultimate safe space, because they always have
self-determination. I'm not fond of this idea that we can all walk
around as though in a bubble, carrying a holy private safe space
where we can't be touched no matter where we go in public. And that
organizations and managers need to to protect those bubbles from
being pierced by reality.
In the SJW view, the only thing you can possibly say to someone
they consider disenfranchised are compliments, unless they happen
to trigger the SJW's bingo list of taboo compliments. Drag queens
and trans embrace the fallacy of being above reproach anywhere. If
you've drawn attention to yourself by fashion or deviancy, be
prepared for a natural response.
>You know what... with all these questions, you're already
indicating that you're getting ready to censor your own words
Clearly I said I believe in the right to say anything, even if one
voluntarily choose to censors his words, so I don't know why you're
insisting on this. In your view, you'd either paint me as a nutcase
who runs about 24/7 screaming anything and everything without a
purpose, or as a hypocrite for not being that nutcase. No, I'm
simply defending free speech and you are not.
> If you yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater.... [people could die
A common cliche argument, you're just grasping for straws now. How
will any of the words I used result in immediately bodily harm?
They won't! Not unless you believe in some slippery slope fallacy,
which at this point wouldn't surprise me. Perhaps you have
delusions that there's a group of lgbt hating terrorists here that
I'm trying to incite to violence...who is more likely to have the
delusions of a nutcase? If the "harm" is anything less than
immediately bodily harm, then there's plenty of time to allow free
speech and argue against any opposing arguments.
>Abcd gets censored by a second moderator before I even get to
see what it's about.
This precisely illustrates that I've been wasting my time here. If
one of you were significantly wiser, I'm sure you would have
amended the old policies you're proud of touting in a more relaxed
direction.

Sensualaoi -- you and I are viewing the same thing from two
different angles.
I can see that you are going to continue to make incorrect
assumptions, and assert "facts" without providing adequate evidence
to support your claims. And I have better things to do than to
continue pedantically tossing counter-arguments around with you.
I hope that you continue to censor your own words here, so we don't
have to. That is the main point I was trying to make... that while
you are free to say anything... there are times when you should
adjust or omit your words, or post them in a different forum.
You may think you were defending free speech, but you were also
making an argument for anarchy. I, too, am a proponent, and ardent
defender of free speech... I'm also a realist and understand that
there are limitations to said freedom, and that respect should
always play a part in what you choose to post or say.
We don't censor anyone here for having a view or argument that
counters the popular, the norm, or even one's unique take. All one
needs to do is follow the Posting Guidelines to do so. You can
criticize any ideas or opinions or actions all you want, just do so
with respect, and without attacking the poster, or some other
individual or group. Most intelligent people can manage to do that,
and the discussion advances. In our experience here, personal
attacks and other hostilities lead to a stalling of the discussion
and downward spiral of the thread. Hence the guidelines.
That moderation (post 19) actually perfectly illustrates why we
have the moderation system that we do. This is not a place for
people to be hostile with each other, or to attack others. I'm
sorry that you've wasted you time here, I'll toss your suggestion
up to the site owner, but I seriously doubt that he's going to
change the guidelines to make this a more hostile place.
Anyhow, this should be the last of my input on this issue.
~~~~~
Oh, I finally did get through to your forum. I was slightly amused
to note the guidelines there. They seem somewhat similar to the
guidelines we have here... just that those guidelines are more like
suggestion there, whereas our guidelines are more akin to rules
here. The largest difference that I noted there, less concern
regarding sharing copyrighted material. I'm guessing that you'll
see a huge influx of traffic just for that one thing.
The forum looks like a good start. I hope that you're able to keep
it going and add to it as time goes on.
