Let me fix that link for you: http://www.vulture.com/2016/06/mosaic-marvel-randolph-thorne.html

From the link:Click to show spoiler

This should not be confused with Stan Lee's previous Mosaic from 2007. Though the two do share some similarities... kinda'.

Anyhow. Thanks for news tehswitcher.

Another body jumping black dude? Yeah, that worked out so well the last time Marvel did it I can't even remember the character's name (one of the "X" titles though).

From: Polover , 94 months, post #4
^ You say that as if the ethnicity is a detraction? Would it somehow be better if the guy wasn't Black?

From: barackobrahma , 94 months, post #5
Why not a pretty redhead with this amazing powers?

From: cj , 94 months, post #6
"Why not a pretty redhead with this amazing powers?"

Because it would infuriate too many geeky guy Marvel fans who would rather watch the pretty redhead than whomever she became... unless she hopped a blonde bombshell or buxom brunette.

From: barackobrahma , 94 months, post #7
Mystique was hot, IMO. And she could shapeshift into other people... including bald old guys. We should start to teach those geeky guys to accept that girls can also have amazing powers... and be pretty!

From: cj , 94 months, post #8
Yes she was, but I'd rather have her powers than date her. Of course, when she was not in her natural state, we had all those other beautiful X-Men to ogle.

Anyhow, let's steer this thread back on topic. Discussion of the portrayal, treatment, use of female characters in mainstream media is a topic for a new thread.

I'm guessing it's not going to last long. Selling a new character in today's environment is tough (gone are the days where a character like Darkhawk could get 50 issues) and Ms. Marvel's the only one that's really work; maybe Miles Morales although his books sell fairly mediocre for the level of attention and pushing he receives. Part of what makes Ms. Marvel work is that it's not a "muslim" book and she's more of a goofy teenage fangirl which is easier for people to invest in than making the book solely about her religion/ethnicity.

I'd hope with this book that they don't go the route of trying to make some kind of race-based narrative out of it because that'll kill the book right out of the gate. I'd also hope they avoid the cliche "jackass learns a lesson and becomes less of an ass" thing; it'd be fairly unique if he continued being a jackass albeit one who does good i.e. something like the Irredeemable Ant-Man comic.

I'd also hope that they don't limit him to jumping solely into non-important people. I'd love to see him possess someone like (speaking of her) Ms. Marvel or something.

They've been trying to make Deadman popular for like 40 years now but it never takes off. Possession isn't a very interesting power in a comic world.

From: guest (Boston Brand) , 94 months, post #12
Deadman isn't popular?!

I would cry tears of great sorrow, if I still had tears to shed.

I think Deadman was great but I felt the reboot was lack luster

It gives a good idea of how he possess his targets rather than by physical contact of some sort he just basically stares at you and he's in, it looks to be a bit promising I do believe given the personality of the character we may hopefully get an exploaration scene xD

From: guest (troll) , 92 months, post #19
lots of Thx. It looks awesome.

From: gallux , 92 months, post #20
Nice, but I do agree with rugal, unfortunately it won't last.
It would be nice to show us how he got his powers, and his first hop into a female... of course with some candid exploration.
