TF/Change is "Normal" or altered reality stories?
From: jwargod , 99 months, post #1
Heya, been recently thinking about a certain theme in TF stories where characters have a change happen to them, but reality, or very least those around them are altered to them to be accepting or treat the new change as normal.

Changes being anything from a hair or eye color change, to being full on turned into a completely different gender, person, and/or species.

Some quick stories where this happens:

http://fictionmania.tv/stories/readtextstory.html?storyID=301076872911795326 (A Wish to Gish by Tim Willows).

http://fictionmania.tv/stories/readtextstory.html?storyID=3354643749251351680 (Ring on the Changes by Morpheus)

"You are what you wish" storyline on fictionbranches 2, and much of the Magic Pen and Chronivac storylines on cyoc.net.

"Normal-izing" can have a big range, so I'll give a quick run down:

Jack, a generic socially-awkward and gawky and short geek senior in highschool, has been changed into a standard blonde bimbo of same age, and 6'0". His family before change is standard Italian heritage with black hair.

Super convinient really change:

Jack wakes up in the morning. See's his room is exactly the same other clothing and physical items suited to his new height and proportions, but as close to his preferred tastes in clothing as possible. He goes downstairs, and his family still refers to him as "Jack", congratulates him on his good grades but should spend more time outside instead of on the computer. Serve him standard meat and eggs breakfast, while parents think "she" should still find a girlfriend.

Also his friends at school are still geeky and friendly, but never hit on him unless he forces something pretty blantantly (i.e.treating him the same as before). For some reason, everyone still think of him as Jack as much as possible, but still see him as a "woman" if that makes sense. Also no one seems to make a big deal of her boobs being as big as her head unless she refers to them.

Convinient/Reasonable:

Jack wakes up in the morning. Sees his room is almost exactly the name, but some more feminine touches here and there, especially in the clothing. He goes downstairs, and his family refers to him as "jackie", their long ago adopted daughter. They congratulate her on her grades and push her to spend less time on computer. They also know that despite being a lesbian, they would still like her to find a girlfriend sometime soon, or ANYTHING really. She is served the same breakfast.

Still has geek friends at school, and they mention its kind of crazy how a girl like her is their friend, but treat her mostly the same. They're more amorous of her her, especially at her chest, but not annoyingly so.' People do see her chest for her size and do react accordingly, but never enough that a ruckus is caused or seen as a social freak.

Inconvenient but reasonable (especially if mental changes added to himself):

Jack wakes up and finds her room completely different then before, with no signs of geekdom or prevalent masculinity in sight. Goes downstairs and families refers to her as Jackie and adopted daughter. They complain her grades are really in the gutter and needs to get her mind off the boys and cheerleading. Jackie is served salad or something similar for breakfast.

Geek friends are severely surprised when she even "bothers" to talk to them. Apparently not only is she incredibly hot, but she in this reality severely torments and bullies them. Her boobs are noticed for her size, especially how she in the past flaunted them, but never enough to cause a major ruckus/authorities or journalist take notice except where she flaunts them on purpose.

And so on with changes. Can get more extreme with family themselves getting severely changed and so on. Not looking for stories where thrust into a whole new life, like Jack becoming a woman who lives in a completely different city, dropped out of high school, and so on.

Thanks for any suggestions! Don't care if its female only or animal/monsters/etc. changes, I'll still check them out regardless!

Wow - sorry that was just a bit too long to read once you gave me an idea of what you were looking for...

Anyhow, there are some stories that explore time travel, and those can include some seeming alterations to reality.

Among my favorites that include reality altering:

"Reward for Wishes" by Bill Hart (sequels "A Reward of Wishes" II, III, and IV)
"Throwing Like a Girl" by Tar Baby

and the unfinished for years "The Katy Nightmare" by Mikkelm

Thanks for the suggestions. Really like to see how this theme gets handled in various stories.
