From what I looked up on the wiki, it seems there could be male and female fusion so fingers crossed!

I recommend watching this show from the beginning. It has a great comic book / superhero/ adventure kind of vibe to it. I also like the cleverness of the writing/ steven's character. The artwork is unique and pretty good as well. The show is sometimes about the 'gems' teleporting around to different 'worlds' or locations, fighting monsters or just them goofing around in this beach town, or steven learning his powers. They can also shapeshift, but they don't do it much, and the ep where steven learned that was a bit of a let down, but so funny it made up for it. Amethyst is also hilarious.

It has only 1 'season' so far , 38 eps I think, but they are short, maybe 10 minutes. You could get thru it all in a couple hours. I believe It has been renewed for a new season. When I saw a fusion ep , I wondered about a steven fusion and they threw a bit of a curve ball when they finally he did his.

I can totally vouch for what Mr_x said here. This cartoon is the best I have ever seen, no lie. Not a single weak episode. Also very poignant, the most poignant I have ever seen in a cartoon. Totally recommend those even marginally interested to give it a shot from the beginning. A huge component to the Gems is that they can fuse together, and it's happened several times already. It will continue to be important. This show is high on continuity, so there is little doubt in my mind that we'll more of "Stevonnie" (this particular fusion) in the future.

I loved Garnet's reaction to it; she was very supportive, haha!

The thing that sucks about his fusion is that it just gets older. As far as the viewers can tell, he doesn't acquire any powers, in fact he might lose them in that form.

It would be a lot cooler if he fused with one of the gems and got some combo powers. I was thinking Lapis Lazuli for some reason, I don't know.
