Thoughts about multiple thread postings with specific criteria
within close time-frame to each other. This is about Message
Threads (topics), not Thread Postings (messages / posts).
Example:
Within a short, few-hour, time frame, a user (though I think that
it would also be concerning if a couple, few, or several users
followed) posted a few threads requesting specific and differing TF
/ swap / possession scenarios.
While this isn't literally against the Posting Guideline, it is
questionable IMO. It runs close to spamming (repeatedly sending the
same (or in this case, similar) messages). Even with just 1
original message, then 3 others by a 2nd user - this starts to make
people (me, for sure) edgy. If other users decided to follow suit,
then the Message Board would have quickly filled-up with all of
these request threads. At that point, I think
we probably would have invoked the first Posting Guideline and
REMOVED ALL but the first request posting.
Fortunately, discretion and a bit of common sense seem to have
prevailed here. Thank you all for that.
Another Posting Guideline does come into play in these cases: "Be
polite, courteous
, and respectful."
Courtesy would have us moderate ourselves to only a few of these
request threads at a time over ALL users of the Message Board. So,
having a bit of patience to keep these specific-type requests
spaced-out a bit over time will help to make the Message Board more
enjoyable for all of us.
Note that I don't give a specific number of these message threads,
nor do I give a specific time frame in which to space them out. As
long as both criteria seem reasonable (think, "what would everyone
else think") you're probably fine.
After seeing a situation like this pop up on the Message Board this
weekend, I wanted to take a moment and address it (especially since
I wasn't the only one concerned about it)... and I didn't want it
to get out of control in the future.
Having these specific requests in their own thread might make it
easier for others to find in the future by using the Message Board
Search feature - so it does sort of make sense to have a separate
thread for each different type of specific change that one is
interested in. On the other hand... the message board database will
likely be full of these specific scenarios in a few years... and
then searching for "hispanic" will likely yield a couple dozen
results. So who knows if it will help or hinder our searches. I
sure don't.
If anyone else has thoughts about this, I welcome you to share them
here.
Thank you.

I agree I know the user since I see it is specific but yeah the
constant begging or just putting any random combination is annoying
and sinks some good stuff

Agreed, I thought about mentioning it several times myself. Or
asking them to just make a big list of "Does anyone know of a
fanfic where character A and B swap bodies?" and then listing all
the combinations they want, rather than making a dozen
nigh-identical threads each day.

And it would help if they put a question mark for these requests.
Otherwise it looks like something new. For example:
Interracial Body Switch
Written like that it looks like new information or maybe new media
for that swap. Whereas:
Interracial Body Switch?
Would imply a request. Or maybe just have them put the word REQUEST
in front of the subject line.

"... maybe just have them put the word REQUEST in front of the
subject line."
I'm not sure why that wasn't already in the Posting Guidelines...
but it is now. Thanks for the suggestion!

I always try my best to bring SOMETHING to the table if I have a
request... I think that should almost (but not really) be mandatory
