Good Lord! It's just a thread, it's not meant to be taken so seriously!

If it bothers you that much don't read it, just take a chill pill and spazz out somewhere else.

I'm not sure that I understand what hmm was trying to say... we're all evil, or we're all being manipulated? Or perhaps our thoughts are what they are, and don't let people screw with them.

I kinda' started the thread with a mind-tripping premise... so spazzing out was sorta' a given. :-)

I groan a bit at the people who call others out on discussing things such as costume gun stories and the like. It's all fiction and while it does ultimately connect with deep desires/interests and fetishes, it's not something that can actually happen and I doubt many of us would even take the plunge if we had the technology.

Reading a story about a guy putting a girl on and becoming her is one thing, but actually doing it would be quite another. I enjoy stories with very well fleshed out villains who are capable of betrayal and murder, but would I EVER indulge in anything like that? No, never. I wouldn't even consider it. I enjoy stories that are in line with costume guns and the like and get a thrill out of them, but I'd never do it in real life. It's just too disrespectful towards the victim. It's inherently evil and violates them, and you'd have to be a pretty fiendish person to ever go through with such a thing.

The people who become others in these stories and the like? THEY are the villains of the story. What villains do may be interesting to us, but it's almost a 100% certainy that we, as the readers, wouldn't do the same in real life if we had the power to.

I'm finding the responses that this thread has generated to be quite interesting. It's almost as if everyone who's replied is indicating that if someone invented or discovered a way to swap bodies, there would be no-one willing to use it... especially against an unknowing or unwilling party. While that gives me hope in the future of mankind, it does seem a bit unlikely that someone, somewhere wouldn't be willing to use it surreptitiously.

When I started this thread, I was hoping to explore the vulnerability and fear and helplessness of being the target of these types of swaps/costuming. The imagining that the story/fantasy was real... you'd gotten your wish / dream come true... you're busy just doing whatever and enjoying yourself / your new life (depending on which you chose)... and then poof, you became a "victim" much like your "target" had before. What would you be feeling?

I know that most of you are decidedly good people at heart. But that dark corner of my mind wonders what it would feel like - though I'd never IRL want to experience it... especially longer than a few minutes.

Don't get me wrong, if two parties got together and there was mutual agreement to walk a mile in each other's shoes for a few hours or even a day or so before turning the person back to let the other person get their turn, I'd be totally down for that. But permanently robbing someone of their life like that? That is indeed very dark and is best left as fiction. This is coming from a guy who enjoys making such captions. Fiction, awesome. Real, no way. :p

The funny thing you have to remember about villains is that they don't see themselves as how the protagonists do in most cases. Some do, because they know they have evil tendencies and think "Oh well, might as well go for broke." But most of the time the villains think that they ARE the heroes. Or at the very least an ordinary person trying to make a difference. Sometimes they believe they are an ordinary person trying to have a little fun.

I mean, if you were endowed with special abilities (of any kind, take your pick), you wouldn't try to do some stuff with them just for fun?
You wouldn't freeze time and pants everyone in your neighborhood? You wouldn't change the weather so that it'd snow in the middle of summer or winter depending on where you live? You wouldn't completely wipe the mind of someone who hurts other people and trick them into killing themselves?

Villains are people with skewed or deluded perspectives.

"You wouldn't freeze time and pants everyone in your neighborhood?"

LOL - I so would do that.
