Good alternatives to Writing.com?
From: Carlsbad , 122 months, post #1
For those unfamiliar, a little background:
Writing.com is a website best known here for hosting "interactive stories". On January 1st, 2013, new free accounts were barred from creating new stories, but free accounts created before this date were grandfathered in. On April 1st, the site's administrator, StoryMaster, revoked these grandfathered permissions, and now requires a paid membership to create a new interactive. Additionally, the site has implemented a very kludge-y javascript popup that demands users disable their ad-blockers when browsing the site.

What I was wondering is, are there any good alternatives to this site, with collaborative fiction capabilities? I know of Fiction Branches, the bearchive addventure, and cyoc, but are there any others?

I like your approach to this issue Carlsbad... very... tactful. Less likely to be seen as an attack IMO.

I'd love to see metamorphose.org make an interactive story segment, it would already go in with the existing content. But I doubt any of the admins have the ability, capacity or the time to implement such an endeavour.

Look here, it's a pet project of mine...

I'll probably make it open source some day or so...

If all of that is true, Carlsbad, then SCREW Writing.com. They've lost a fan, a writer, and a member all at once.

I will not be going back to any such place that sells out like that other than to attempt to have my own material (and hand in it all) deleted.

Youtube sold out a long time ago, too. I'm sick of all of these sellouts. Hopefully many others will follow suit and leave Writing.com on its ass like a helpless child.
Good riddance to them!

Sellouts? If they can't make any money, these websites will stagnate or cease to exist entirely.

Wasn't this thread 3 pages long a day ago?

"Wasn't this thread 3 pages long a day ago?"

No, that was another thread about the same thing. More vicious too, as I recall.
