I'd like to see this get made, but so far there's nothing new.
From Twitter:
Reapplying to the IPF for funding!!! We're relaunching our teaser
March 3rd. Help us reach 350 000 YouTube views again!!!
Shorter cut

98 views :/ you will have to watch it 3 times a day lol,
Seriously I'd love for this to get made, but I can't see it
happening, it's not safe enough. Studios prefer the safe boring
formats repeatedly.

I wish them luck though they're probably going to need it.

There's no way they're going to get all those YouTube hits they had
last year. Also, what did they do with their Indigogo money they
raised? They're trying to get financing from a government grant but
I don't think a shorter cut if their pilot is the way to go. They
needed to shoot a sizzle trailer showcasing what the hell this show
/ movie would be. I thought this project had a lot if potential but
after a year with no updates I'm not holding out a lot of hope : (

I don't want to be too opinionated because I have NO facts, but I
don't get it. Why is funding the only avenue they can go down to
make this movie? How long has it been since the last go around?
Many months indeed. Why not do a kickstarter, wash cars, mow lawns,
work overtime etc if they can't get funding? James has made a lot
of great movies and shorts doing much the same. My mom always said
if somebody wants to do something, they'll find a way to do it.

The did do a "kickstarter" with Indiegogo. In my opinion they asked
for waaayyy too much and didn't provide proper incentives. Also,
unlike James, they didn't reach out to their audience. The had
300,000 hits on youtube. I'm just gonna chalk it up to
inexperience.

I don't understand why this series wasn't funded apart from maybe
the genre it represents isn't taken that seriously. I mean it was
smart and sexy. It was well-acted, well-edited and directed, looked
professional and was relatively original. Maybe if Sam is a massive
hit this will be taken more seriously?

Although Werewoman has a TG premise, I'm not sure the Canadian
professional actresses behind it were necessarily trying to market
it to the TG community. I think they were trying to make it into
something with broader indie-flick appeal... something with more of
a feminist as opposed to TG message. I don't think they were able
to do that well last time, and I'm less optimistic this time.

Doesn't seem like they're serious about getting attention.

They're serious just really not well versed with how to promote on
the internet. The facebook link on their website doesn't even work.

I don't understand why Youtube blocked their video after 300,000
views. I doubt they'll achieve that again.

I also don't think this new cut is very good. The 5 minute one had
a good pace and established there was tension in the house. I don't
get why they edited the film. I thought they were required to
produce something with the Indigogo money they raised.
Here's the original video on their Vimeo page.

As it was 201 when I just looked, either you just got them 77 hits
by posting on here alone or they are growing at a pretty steady
rate

How can something be "in production" and "looking for funding" at
the same time? I don't understand why it would be so hard for them
to get some very brief new footage of "Patrick" adjusting to being
a woman? It doesn't have to be as long as the original trailer but
something new.

I want to know what they did with the money they earned from their
initial crowd funding and why they felt the need to cut out 2
minutes.
|
From: guest (rush)
, 123 months, post #17 |
The only reason I can think of why they would cut some of the
footage out is so they can get to the point faster and show the
viewer what the series is about. Sometimes that makes a video more
likely to go viral.

From the Werewoman facebook webpage:
"This is no April Fools, simply wonderful news! WEREWOMAN has been
shortlisted by the IPF among 23 other web series out of 188. Now we
just have to get past Phase 2 to get funded!!!! One step closer...
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!"

Hurray. Maybe there's still a chance.

Who knows? They made it this far last year. It's the same phase 1 /
phase 2 funding thing. They're trying it again.
