Looks like the IMDb page got updated a bit. Out are the original
cast listings of James Lafferty, Anna Chumsky, and Chris Klein as
the main cast and now have, presumably, Joe D'onofrio, Bryan Batt
and Sarah Scott. Anyone think there's an update or it possibly
coming to fruition soon?

I went to the Facebook page of 305 Media and sent them a politely
worded message almost a year ago. I practically got an immediate
reply. When asked them for an update about SAM this was the reply:
On the back burner. I"m scheduled to make DIGGER 3D first, then
either 22 or FICKLE.

the movie says "in production" which means in theory they're making
it right now. It was "pre-production" before so maybe they're
making it? The main actress no longer is playing Samantha but a
character named Cynthia? Not sure I know who the main actress is
anymore. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this movie if it
ever gets made.

Don't trust IMDB. They lost all their big stars and the director is
no longer John Gallagher. I emailed John Gallagher and he wrote
back to me "it's on the back burner". Trust me, it's gonna be a
long time before this movie gets made.

The imdb page has been curiously updated even though it says the
last update was 3 June 2013.
This probably doesn't mean anything but the role of "Samantha" has
been changed. It was originally the blonde Sarah Scott (who is now
playing Cynthia) to the brunette Natalie Knepp.

Hope this movie gets made. I think a brunette would be better
anyways.

Natalie Knepp is cute, and very nearly what I would like to look
like. She's also more conventionally feminine-looking than Sarah
Scott. If this change is legit, I'm happy.
Of course, that's if this movie ever actually comes out...

I agree that Knepp is a better choice than Scott
There was one little tidbit that might mean the production is
moving forward soon but don't hold your breath. On his facebook
John Galagher said he was looking to hire an assistant to work on
"two high-quality back to back feature films that will play many
film festivals, theatrically in the u.s. The first is a romcom
(with co-producer credit) and the other is a 3D horror movie - both
with legendary artists involved.
Well, Gallagher was on a youtube video a year ago saying Digger 3D
would be his next movie. SAM is a romcom and has Stacy Keach, Bryan
Batt cast so they could be the "legendary artists". He also cowrote
the script and is coproducing with Nick Brooks (mel brooks son)
Here's hoping . . .

One thing about Sam on imdb that doesn't bode well is there is no
actor listed playing the title role.

Actually, Samantha is the title role. Finding a Sam should be
relatively easy.

But, yeah, the page hasn't been official updated since June so who
knows when they'll start shooting

Yay. A real update. SAM is casting. Hope they start shooting sooner
than later.
John Gallagher's twitter (Nov 19)
Thrilled to announce the casting of @SeanKleier in the starring
role of Doc in our new feature rom-com SAM! More announcements very
soon!
Doc was originally going to be played by Chris Klein. This is the
role of the "best friend" mentioned in the tag line.

He posted a twitter a few days later saying that he was still
casting. It sounds like he is going to make it and this is the tg
movie that I am most anticipating. It sounds like the closest thing
we'll get to an American lalola.
For me, magical transformation movies are way better than body
switches so I look forward to watching this next year(?)

Actor Steve Stanulis posted on his facebook a link to the SAM imdb
page and wrote (Dec 14th) that he just talked with the director of
SAM and is all pumped up about the exciting cast and locations.
Looks like the movie is getting ready to shoot soon. ::fingers
crossed::

I learned some new details about SAM. I'm only posting them because
I'm super excited about the film and the plot and not trying to
spoil the production. I love the idea of a TG romance where two
best friends fall in love after one becomes a woman. I'm using the
spoiler filter, but they're not really spoilers just general plot
points.

- eyeballs thesaint* How do you do it? Information hunter... haha
Well that makes two movies I want to see get maid, Sam and
Invisible X... hope we get to see them. Sounds interesting, have to
wonder if its a poof transformation like SWITCH or a one night
transform. Tho another slow one like Invisible X wouldn't kill us
either. :D
Thanks for the info thesaint!

You're welcome : )
I don't think we'll see Invisible X any time soon. There is a
chance we might see a short version of that script in an upcoming
horror movie. Karyn Kusama is directing 1 part in an anthology
horror film called X,X.
As for SAM, I'm pretty sure it's a "wake up" realization.
