Just wanted to let everyone know that you can download the book "A
Florida Enchantment" by Archibald Gunter for free (and legally) at
Archive.org
http://www.archive.org/details/floridaenchantme00guntiala
You can download the PDF version (about 14 Megs) under the books'
thumbnail for viewing on your computer or versions of handheld
readers.
There is an entry here at Metamorphose for the movie based on the
book (circa early 1900s)
Quick synopsis (at a glance): woman wants to be a man, and her
adventuring dead uncle had found a tree with magical gender
changing seeds...

Gilbert of gilbert and sullivan wrote this 1872 play - Happy
Arcadia, with music by Frederic Clay

as to what happens in it, 2 men trade bodies with 2 women and
somehow musical comedy follows... (and some interesting 1870's
reactions)

After reading further into this book, I wanted to warn that due to
the time period (late 1800s) and location (the South) there are
derogatory/racist/sexist characters and terms (I was immediately
reminded of reading the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn). It's
almost so over-the-top stereotypically I'm wondering if the book
was meant to be a complete satire...? I'm going to try and read
more and ignore all the "-isms"
I'm assuming that the book is pretty much the same as the film
(I've only read 1/3 so far and it seems to match the movie
synopsis).
In reference to Happy Arcadia; I skimmed the script and I thought
it was interesting how the one guy ends up in his wife's body (the
"missus") because he thought her body would raise less suspicion
since he was a criminal. Thanks for posting about Happy Arcadia.

I've read about half the book now, and it is interesting in
reference to TG. The main female character takes a seed to become a
man and slowly becomes one while still pretending to be herself
(dressing/ acting as her female self... she even squeezes on a
corset and has to get new shoes when her feet grow), she also takes
a "male" interest in her female friends. I even laughed when one of
the women was imagining herself as a man and another woman told her
she would be "dumpy" as a man.
It is actually an interesting TG story, you just have to ignore the
way her African-American maid is portrayed in the story (as I
mentioned before, it's very stereotypical of the time). The maid
does become a major character in the story when another seed comes
into play.

It's set at the back cover but there is a go to pull down list to
get to the start.
the Tg gets going in the last 1/3rd (but possibly sprinkled
throughout without the reader knowing perhaps?) explore the book
and find out! ;)

I wonder whether the author of that last novel realized that to
certain readers the story was very erotic. Maybe... maybe it was
his own fantasy too?

Just finish reading the "A Florida Enchantment"
How come the ftm grows in size but the mtf remains the same?

Also as an aside, the book mentioned in posts #8-#10 has been
re-released last year.
Mayfair Mystery on Amazon
Possibly easier to read than the scanned edition linked in post #9.
