I'd like to see one where the "victim" is the one who gets left in the female form afterward. Stodgy middle-aged manager ends up as co-ed, etc.

I really like these Comics but, just wish we could we could actually see some transformations happen (MtF) instead of always seeing the "Bad Guy" doing a FtM transformation and then the comic being done. I"m just saying lol

predictable but still well drawn

From: Alias , 138 months, post #128
There's some great artwork in these, but yeah, the plots are very predictable and disappointing.

I agree with the last three posters. My stories have gotten stale and too familiar. But I still enjoy working with great artists which is why I commission the short stories and I hope that the stories encourage people to create their own. But if people are bored of them, then it's probably a good time for me to take a break. So I will post the final page to The Prisoner tomorrow morning and the comic will be taken down by the end of the weekend like the others. But it has been a blast writing and sharing the stories and getting feedback, good and not so good; it helps me see what worked and what didn't work. I am excited to see what great stories people come up with in the future. Thanks for reading my stories.

@chronicstuss
I wouldn't say you have to agree with mine... completely that is. They can be mixed up and you told me that you had something planned regarding that. Transformation wise I mean. I just think it would be cool to see the Shifter actually changing into the female or multiple ones to keep us guessing. You did that (showing transformations) with Get Bennington and The Device. I haven't got bored though. I love to see the Art because you usually get really good Artists. My favorites have been the Artists for No.8, The Job, and The Spy. I feel like you can keep going and should. I am thankful for what you have shared. The Tattoo idea is great too. Shows that you know that with a very powerful ability like shapeshifting, there has to be a catch. Like I said it has been great and Thanks Again for being Generous!

Hey Chronicstuss, I didn't realize you happened onto these boards! I just wanted to thank you for all your amazing and generous commissions, and say that I'm a big fan.

In regards to the prior posts - please know that it is always impossible to make everyone happy - especially when producing short stories where you only have so much time develop the story you want to tell. You payed for and went through the effort of writing each one, which I for one really thought were excellent - as there really isn't many shape shifting themed comics, let alone ones that are high quality and free for us to read like you produced/shared. So please don't be discouraged by any of the possible unhappy readers and know that there are many of us that would love to see with whatever you come up with next!

Since I can possibly see that many other people might start suggesting themes for stories that you may(here's hoping)/or may not produce in the future - I'd personally like to see in a comic your idea of what a shifter would do in his/her day to day life (To escape?To amuse himself?) - rather than necessarily being on some personal mission of some sort(Not that I wouldn't want to see more of that). But that's just me, so please do whatever you'd like to next and don't feel pressured by others!

Of course, you're the one who was kind enough to share your commissions, so whether you decide to make any more stories or not - I, and I'm sure others - greatly appreciate what you've done!

Don't get me wrong, I definitely like a lot of what chronicstuss has made, it's just that I keep hoping to see a plot twist in these.

I'm certainly not saying to quit, just keep it new and interesting. Look for ways to come at the story from a different angle. Make the motivation for the shapeshifter something other than malice or revenge. Something we can sympathize with would be nice. The kid in high school wanting to feel popular. A shapeshifter hunted by an organization that he's hiding from, rather than actively revenge-killing them. The spy who uses his abilities to save the world from gobal threats.

I'd love to see something done with a more physical disguise, like masks and prostheses, which could still include the tattoo angle you like to incorporate in your stories.

But all these are just suggestions. I don't want it said that I'm complaining without offering some constructive suggestions.

Chronic, you can't please everyone so don't even try. The stories you've had commissioned are awesome. Only thing I'd ask is if you could make the older ones available for download somewhere since some of us didn't get to read them.

If I were having an artist recreate a story, I'd have something like this done http://www.writing.com/main/interact/item_id/1510047-The-Book-of-Masks/map/11. That is probably my favorite story on the internet right now.

Yes, I've been a fan of Paul's since the Ovid days. People have been contributing stuff for a long time (yahoo groups, YouTube sites, YouTube videos) that I felt like I should contribute something.

As for the stories, no worries here. I think all feedback is constructive and I accept that my modus operandi had become very predictable. I think it has been pretty easy to guess who the shapeshifter is: it's usually the hot chick. Plus, its not as if my stories are entirely original. Some are based on television shows, comics or movies. Have you every wished a show or comic would have gone in a different direction? I have and sometimes I just rewrite the story the way I wanted to see it. But yes, I've been leaning very heavily on working with some great artists who produce some beautiful art which has help make up for the thinness of some of my stories.

Tal is correct in identifying that it is very hard to write too much detail in 10 pages. But 10 pages has been my niche. It's long enough to do a few plot twists but short enough that an artist will be willing to work ont he project. A 10 page work takes about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 months to complete (most artists can do about 1 to 2 pages a week). I find that 10 has been a good number of pages for an artist and I can usually find enough time to bang out a 10 page comic.

As for historical comics, I am still working on a good way to display old works. Unfortunately I found that somebody had taken an old work and put it on a pay site. I was disappointed to learn about that and that is why I delete older works. There are some bad actors out there in the interweb and I'm trying to find a good, safe way to display old works.

I appreciate the feedback and perhaps I can incorporate some ideas. But stay tuned. I think there will be some new stuff in early or mid 2013.

PS - The last page of the Prisoner is up.

I, for one, have really enjoyed your comics and I'm a little sad that I won't be able to track them down for a while. I wondered why you disappeared them so frequently and I'm disappointed (but not surprised, the inernet has ceased surprising me) to learn your reason. I would like to read some of your older works, so I'd ask that if you do find somewhere to put them that you'd let us know? I loved 'The Prisoner' and frankly if you're taking the time to improve your work than great. After all, it's us who reaps the benefit.

Also, most of the comics professionals who I've heard talk about writing good comics have all sung the praises of learning to tell your story in as compressed a way as possible, so I'm sure it's helped. The quality of your work speaks for itself and I look forward to seeing what else you might come up with.

@Tal
I agree with you :D
There isn't much shapeshifter type comics, let alone free ones.
I did thank him numerous times for the comics as well :)
I love your idea too. I'm sure a male shapeshifter would love to amuse himself with many female forms if he could be anyone. That is actually a great idea.

man i cant for your future stuss chronicstuss big fan!!!!!!!!!!!!1 by the way where can i read some of your old stuff?

From: guest (EvilEd) , 138 months, post #139
Chronicstuss, I'm also a fan of your work and love all of your work. I'm agree with Alias, any surprise change of style like mask/bodysuit disguise would be great. Maybe more creepy combine bodysuit with shapeshifter like skinwalker in Haven, Supernatural series?

From: guest (Syberia) , 138 months, post #140
I appreciate you putting your stories out there chronicstuss, but if I could offer some criticism, it just seems to me like many of your stories don't have any conflict in them. Everything just goes the shapeshifter's way, without even a hiccup. The whole tattoo thing seems like a way to introduce a limitation to the shapeshifter's power, but nobody ever notices it, or puts any serious thought into why someone they've known for a while suddenly has a very hard-to-miss and uncharacteristic tattoo on their back.

I'm not trying to discourage you or anything, and I know you can't exactly fit a complex plot in 10 pages, but a lot of your stories seem predictable because the events are always the same even if the premise is different. Try throwing a wrench into the story and seeing what happens!
