Though I admit it looks reallygood and scary, after Cloverfield I'm
reluctant to sit through another over hyped movie that ends up
sucking.
Has anyone else seen this movie? Can someone give us a review?

Well I've since it twice now. Loved it personally. It's about
atmosphere... and setting up these two characters to see them go
thru a horrific experience together. The premise is simple and
executed extremely well for first time movie makers. I was very
much impressed. I admit... it's not for everyone. And if you want
flashy quick cuts and lots of special effects and blood splatter
all over the screen... this movie is not for you.

sounds like another blair witch project idea.. which was another
great disappointment
when you say subtle hint... does that mean the m2f possession
reacts to being in her body, or like a different/demonic voice?

I just went to see this movie with a bunch of my friends today and
i belive that this movie was over hyped i can hardly belive that
people would be so scared to leave halfway through when the scary
parts didnt happen till the end. Everyone in the show which there
were about 20 laughed more then anything during the film. And i
cant belive talks for a sequal are allready being talked about. i
will say however they did do a good job of getting people to go and
see a movie that was made 2 years ago and sat around for a while.

If you are not able to go along for the ride that this movie
offers... then it will always be a disappointment. My friends and I
laughed at the fact this movie was far better, more intelligent and
entertaining than something like Transformers 2 (which cost $200
million to make as opposed to $10,000.) I'm a big fan of ghost
hunter like stuff. So it was easy for me to get into this movie.
Not to mention, when you strip down the characters themselves - and
their flaws and reactions - it is actually a well thought out
movie.

The movie was terrible. Completely overrated in every sense. It was
not scary at all. I found the prospect of my state becomming
cotrolled by Republicans way more terrifying. The film is a
wanna-be Blair Witch. And ever since Speilberg trusted Transformers
to Micheal Bay and somehow made Shia LeBouf a star, I do not trust
his opinion. Go out and rent Diary of the Dead.
But yeah, the possession is a minor yet big part of the story.
Minor in the sense of it really not being worthy of being listed,
and big as it is the main sense of haunting. There is a seen where
Micah is looking the house's previous owner up online and finds a
video that is a terrible rip off of the Exorcist.
Just avoid this and move on.

I love suspence rather than the slash em up type movies they try
and market nowadays. I just thought the last movie like this I saw;
blair witch was anti-clamatic. I mean with transformers you know
what you're getting. A bunch of battling robots to save the world,
I went into that one thinking that and I didn't think it was THAT
bad considering it was a micheal bay film. Course I could have
watched it with sound off, at least when megan fox was on screen..
So maybee I'm easily entertained?
I definitely wasn't impressed with diary of the... I was sort of
drawn into it because of the mockumentary style of it.. But the
recent films do not really show the same thought into it as the
original movies by george romero. That being said, diary was a
thousand times better than flight of the.. or whatever that was
called with the plane (yes. For those who don't beleive me.. this
does exist)
Call me a perv but you'd expect a male, even a demon might grab at
"himself" lol
oh well haha

Since the subject has been raised, here's my two cents:
I liked the beginning and end of Blair Witch, but the middle, with
the filmmakers bitching and moaning at each other, was boring.
There was about 30 minutes of material in a 90-minute movie.
I have yet to Paranormal Activity, so I'll just wait until it comes
out on DVD and rent it, or wait until I can see it on TV.

I might agree with you about "you know what you're getting from
Transformers 2".... but actually you don't always. Let me make a
comparison. ALIENS - is a movie about aliens that attack people.
ALIEN - RESURRECTION - is a movie about aliens that attack people.
The first is a classic. The other is not very good. Another example
is THE DARK KNIGHT as opposed to BATMAN & ROBIN. Both are about
a man that dresses up in a bat suit and runs around fighting bad
guys. The first is a classic. The other is a bad movie.
I do give TRANSFORMERS 2 one thing. My friends, collegues and I all
have talked about it over the summer. But we talked about how bad
of a movie it was. And some of the people I know even worked on the
movie admit it. But it pays them well.
I admit I'm a bit prejudice too. I'm a huge paranormal nut. Strike
#1. I love telling stories from a different POV sometimes. Strike
#2. I love slowed down, atmospheric and well drawn out
characterizations. Strike #3. I'm also an independent movie maker.
So I admire what Paranormal Activity is and how it was done. My
biggest prejudice of all. Oh well. As I've learned. You can't
please everyone. ;)

well.. maybee I go into some with low expectations because I'm
scared they will kill a classic show/movie from my youth when it
comes to stuff like gi joe, transformers, or a-team.
The worse part of resurection for me was them trying to bring her
back for another movie and of course the end with the "new alien"..
Maybee that was first flag for me I'm not sure. I wanted alot from
that one and besides some decent effects for the aliens the movie
was a wash from the start.
BUT with batman and robin... You kind of know it was bad from
commercials. I mean arnold as mr freeze? and honestly I'm not a fan
of clooney. IMHO the worse batman ever.. MR MOM for god's sake was
better than that!
Maybee one of my prejudice is that while paranormal can be a good
escape i don't really beleive in that stuff anymore
