Martha Kent (Diane Lane) visit's Lois Lane (Amy Adams) at her apartment to speak with her about needing to move on with her life in the aftermath of the loss of Clark. As Martha leaves, it is revealed that Martha is actually <spoiler>a shape shifted US Secretary of Defense Calvin Swanwick (Harry Lennix).</spoiler>

At the end of this cut of the movie, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) awakens from another Knigtmare dream and is greeted outside of his house by <spoiler>the Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix via CGI) who reveals he will help prepare for Darkseid's attack on Earth. This retroactively establishes that since the Man of Steel, the Martian Manhunter has been in all of the movies and was also Martha to push Lois to move on.</spoiler>
